Using Video to Promote Your Business
Lately we have been doing some very simple, yet powerful, video production that tell short, 1-3 minute stories that have a great impact. Over the last five years or so, video has exploded in popularity. This is due to a number of factors such as the falling cost of equipment, the software tools available for editing, and internet speeds continuing to increase. Not to mention they are getting cheaper and cheaper to shoot and produce.
One of the reasons I love doing client videos is because of the versatility of the medium. You can do explainer videos, product highlights, customer testimonials, how-to videos…the list goes on and on.
Below are three examples of videos we have completed recently for a couple clients…
This first video is for our client Ashley Manor. They own 60+ assisted living and memory care facilities across Oregon, Idaho, and Colorado. In this video, one of the founders Keith, talks about when he was faced with the decision of placing his own mother in one of his own facilities. It was a really sweet moment and you can feel the faith he has in his team and company.
This next video is also from Ashley Manor and is a client testimonial video. We were able to book a few of these interviews back-to-back and knock out several with one sitting. This is Karen describing her experience with her mom being in an AM facility…
Finally, this was a fun video we did for a relatively new client, Discovery Center of Idaho. Laura, DCI’s development director, wanted to give a shout out to their sponsors for their annual fundraising event. We used this video in their monthly e-newsletter that goes out to their 11,000+ subscriber list.
There are a few things that make these videos stand out and grab attention.
1) They tell a good story. A video is only as good as the story it tells. In some cases we craft scripts for the videos we shoot, in others we simply guide the interviewee with a simple list of questions and let them talk.
2) Professional elements. You’ll have noticed the animated titles, the lower thirds elements (these usually show the person’s name and title, etc.), the background music, etc. This lends credibility to the video and raises the production quality.
3) Short and punchy. We try to not to go over 3 minutes in length where possible. There are exceptions to this rule of course, but shorter videos can have a great impact and tell a great story when done right.
If you think a video like this might be beneficial to your business then I would love to talk to you about it further. In general, we can do videos like those above for under $500, depending on various variables, so they are relatively affordable for most sized businesses.
Your video would include help with strategy, script writing, an animated logo intro, lower third elements, custom transitions, shooting of the video footage, background music selection, professional voice-over (if applicable), and all editing into a finished product to be used on your website or YouTube channel.
